Last updated: March 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how HackTheKnowledge ("HTK") uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit hacktheknowledge.com, and how you can manage your preferences.
What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website. They allow the site to recognise your device on return visits and remember preferences. We also use similar technologies such as localStorage for session management.
Cookies We Use
Essential Cookies (always active)
These are required for the platform to function and cannot be disabled.
- next-auth.session-token — Stores your encrypted authentication session. Expires when you log out or after 30 days of inactivity. Set by: HTK (NextAuth).
- next-auth.csrf-token — Prevents cross-site request forgery attacks. Session cookie. Set by: HTK (NextAuth).
- CookieConsent — Stores your cookie preferences so we don't ask again. 1 year. Set by: Cookiebot.
Analytics Cookies (requires consent)
Only set if you accept analytics cookies in the cookie banner.
- _ga, _ga_* (Google Analytics) — Anonymised page view and event tracking. 2 years. Set by: Google. Data processed in the EU where possible.
- Plausible Analytics — Privacy-first analytics. No cookies are set; uses a daily rotating hash instead of persistent identifiers. No cross-site tracking. EU hosted.
Third-Party Cookies
- Stripe — Stripe may set cookies during the checkout process for fraud prevention and payment processing. See Stripe Cookie Settings.
Managing Your Preferences
You can change your cookie preferences at any time by:
- Clicking the "Cookie Settings" link in the footer.
- Using your browser settings to block or delete cookies.
- Using a browser extension such as uBlock Origin.
Blocking essential cookies will prevent you from logging in and using the platform. Blocking analytics cookies has no impact on platform functionality.
Your Rights
Under GDPR, you have the right to withdraw consent for non-essential cookies at any time. Doing so will not affect the lawfulness of processing that occurred before withdrawal. For more information, see our Privacy Policy.
